BATH — Police say a Waldoboro man who rode 45 miles atop a Maine Eastern Railroad train told them he climbed onto the train while drinking and fell asleep.

Bath Police Lt. Stan Cielinski said Monday that the 22-year-old man woke up between Rockland and Bath and decided to stay put because it was unsafe to move.

Bath police stopped the train late Saturday morning after a Woolwich resident reported seeing a man on the train.

The Times Record said police have not yet charged the man with a crime, and Cielinski said they will not release his name unless they do so.
