SACO – Thornton Academy scored twice in the second half to defeat Massabesic 2-0 Friday night in a Western Class A girls’ soccer preliminary-round game.

Amanda Arnold gave the fourth-ranked Trojans (12-1-2) the lead with 27:54 left off a rebound from Tori Daigle. Chrissy Remmes scored with 4:19 remaining, with an assist by Jamie Durie.

Trojans goalie Emily Richard had five saves for the shutout.

Gemma Lundrigan made 20 saves for the 13th-ranked Mustangs (6-9).

HALL-DALE 2, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Kristina Buck scored twice to lead the sixth-seeded Bulldogs (11-4) over the 11th-seeded Rangers (4-10-1) in a Western Class C prelim at Farmingdale.

Olivia Maynard stopped 16 shots for the shutout. Eileen Macomber made eight saves for Traip.

OLD ORCHARD 2, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Abby Dubois scored with five minutes remaining to lift the seventh-seeded Seagulls (8-4) over the 10th-ranked Hawks (5-9-1) in a Western Class C prelim at Old Orchard Beach.

Anna Foss gave OOB the lead 15 minutes in, and Courtney Miniutti answered for Sacopee Valley just before halftime.

Olivia Dubois assisted her sister on the winning goal.

YARMOUTH 3, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Tess Merrill had a goal and an assist to lead the sixth-seeded Clippers (7-8) over the 11th-ranked Raiders (4-8-3) in a Western Class B prelim at Yarmouth.

Ariel Potter and Julia Primeau added goals and Shannon Fallon stopped five shots to earn the shutout

CAMDEN HILLS 3, GARDINER 0: Lexi Doudera, Addie Drinkwater and Kristina Alex each had a goal to lead the fifth-seeded Windjammers (9-3-2) past the 12th-seeded Tigers (5-6-2) in an Eastern Class B prelim at Rockport.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 1, MT. ABRAM 0: Kylie Kemp scored an unassisted goal with 24:59 left to lead the ninth-seeded Mustangs (8-7) past No. 8 Mt. Abram (7-7-1) in a Western Class C prelim at North Anson.

Adrianna Gonzalez made four saves for the shutout. 

HAMPDEN ACADEMY 3, ERSKINE ACADEMY 2: The seventh-seeded Broncos (8-6-1) had a 4-2 advantage in the penalty-kick round to defeat No. 10 Erskine (5-8) in an Eastern Class A prelim at Hampden.

Meryl Bond and Rachale Sage scored in regulation for Erskine, and Chelsea Kuzio scored both regular-season goals for Hampden.

BOYS

NYA 5, MT. ABRAM 0: Ryan Rousseau’s goal 11:20 into the second half sparked a run of five goals in nine minutes and helped the ninth-ranked Panthers (7-6-2) beat the eighth-seeded Roadrunners (4-6-3) at Salem.

D.J. Nicholas had two goals, and Asad Dahia and Oliver Silverson also scored. Dahia had two assists.
