BRUNSWICK – The Carlo Pittore Foundation will host a “Day of 1000 Drawings” from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fort Andross Mill in Brunswick. The afternoon will feature the sale and silent auction of 1,000 original works on paper by the late Carlo Pittore; an awards ceremony for two $1,000 grants to Maine artists funded by the foundation; and a screening of the trailer for the movie “Carlo Pittore: Maine Master” currently in production as part of the Maine Masters film series.

The event will take place in a large, first-floor space at Fort Andross, offering a wide-ranging presentation of Pittore’s work from 1958 to 2004. Hundreds of pieces are priced for immediate sale, while other rare and seminal pieces will be offered through silent auction.

Pittore was a Bowdoinham artist and arts activist who died in 2005. The Carlo Pittore Foundation was established to promote his work, as well as to provide support and opportunities to Maine artists. For more information, go online to carlopittorefoundation.org or call 666-8145.
