BANGOR – Cody Chapman rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Bangor clinched an Eastern Class A football playoff berth with a 29-8 win Friday night over Skowhegan.

With both teams needing a win to make the playoffs, Skowhegan (5-4) struck first, taking an 8-0 lead on a 31-yard run and a two-point conversion by Adam Dusty.

But the Indians failed to finish several drives, wasting a 281-yard performance by Dusty. Zeb Tuell rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown for Bangor (7-2), which will be the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. The Rams will host Brunswick in the semifinals.

LAWRENCE 25, MESSA-LONSKEE 16: Shaun Carroll opened the scoring with a 27-yard run, and Aaron LaFrance returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown as the Bulldogs (9-0) finished their fifth unbeaten regular season in the last six years with a victory over the Eagles (6-3) at Oakland.

The teams will meet again next weekend in the Eastern Class A semifinals.

GREENVILLE 8, PINE TREE ACADEMY 0: Henry Hersey scored four goals as the second-seeded Lakers (10-4-2) beat the third-seeded Breakers (13-1) in a Western Class D semifinal at Greenville.

Tristan Richards added two goals and three assists, and Matt D’Angelo also scored twice.

Zachary Wilday made eight saves for Pine Tree.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

ST. DOMINIC 2, DIRIGO 1: Dayle Jordan scored on a header 31 seconds into overtime to lift the fourth-seeded Saints (13-3) past the top-seeded Cougars (13-1-2) in a Western Class C semifinal at Dixfield.

Lindsy Crutchfield gave Dirigo a 1-0 lead, but St. Dom’s tied it late in regulation.
