PORTLAND – There’s no parking ban in the city tonight due to the snowstorm, but city officials are asking residents to act as if there is one.

The city will open public and school parking lots for overnight parking and the Spring Street garage will offer the reduced parking ban rate for the night.

The city said getting cars off the street will make it easier for crews to clear the snow on Sunday.

However, city officials said residents should avoid driving during the height of the storm, when heavy snow and high winds may limit visibility.
