BRUNSWICK — Edward T. Holbrook, age 94, formerly of Brunswick, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Falmouth by the Sea.

Edward was born in Calais, ME on September 12, 1917, the son of George and Irene Holbrook. He grew up in Vanceboro, ME and graduated Valedictorian from Vanceboro High School in 1935.

Mr. Holbrook married Mary I. Dougherty on April 29, 1941 who was to be his wife of 65 years, and best friend for over 80 years.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

After his discharge, they moved to Brunswick in 1946 where he first started work at the Brunswick Railway Express Agency. In the late 1950s he went to work at Brunswick Coal & Lumber from where he retired at the age of 58.

He and his wife wintered in Port St. Lucie, FL for over 20 years and enjoyed golf and traveling.

Ed was known and will be remembered as a super nice guy and decent human being to all who knew him.

He is predeceased by his wife who died on July 24, 2006.

He is survived by his son, Joseph T. Holbrook and his wife, Margaret of Great Diamond Island, ME.

A memorial service will be held at 11a. m. Saturday, November 26, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick with Rev. Ron McLaughlin officiating.
