AUGUSTA — Maine first lady Ann LePage is traveling with the caravan that’s bringing thousands of wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery, where she’s expected to be joined by Gov. Paul LePage this weekend.

Mrs. LePage boarded a bus in South Portland on Monday night and is traveling with Morrill Worcester’s Wreaths Across America caravan. Blaine House officials say this is the first time someone from Maine’s first family has joined Morrill and Karen Worcester for the trip to honor deceased veterans at Arlington.

The route is marked by flags and people cheering. Up to 100,000 wreaths are to be placed on gravesites at the military cemetery Saturday in Morrill’s biggest wreath-laying undertaking yet.

The governor leaves for Arlington on Friday, then will help decorate gravesites and participate in other ceremonies on Saturday.
