PHIPPSBURG — A talent and variety show starts at 7 p.m. today at the Phippsburg Congregational Church. A silent auction starts at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Bath Area Food Bank and the church, which hosts a popular community concert series.

“The event will celebrate local singers, musicians, storytellers, comedians, magicians and artists,” a release about the show states. “It will feature entertainment as varied as Christmas songs and Scott Joplin rags, offered by amateur and professional performers ranging from a young fiddler to a master banjo player.”

Scheduled performers include Calla Barton, the Belles & Buoys bell ringers, Earl Bigelow, Lauren Crosby, Dennis Doiron, Havi Ellers, Kai Ellers, Olaf Ellers, Karen Grey, Bertie Koller, Ben Schade, Chip Simpson, Sandy Stenquist and Bob Webb.

The silent auction features art donated by local artists, including Bev Bevilacqua, Sharon Bond, Rodman Cart, Dan Dowd, Gay Galleher, Diane Racine and Jo Schuman.

Music lessons, gift certificates and other donated items will be up for bid.

Hors d’oeuvres will be served during the silent auction, and refreshments will be offered during the talent show intermission.

Admission costs $10 for adults or $6 for students. Children younger than 8 get in free. Those attending are encouraged to bring a can of soup, canned meat or canned vegetables for the Bath Area Food Bank.

The Phippsburg Congregational Church is located at 10 Church Lane off Parker Head Road.
