PEMBROKE, Mass. — William G. Sweetman 75, died Saturday December 17, 2011 surrounded by his loving family after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Lauren (Paull) Sweetman.

Born and raised in Brockton he was the son of the late William and Evelyn Sweetman Zenavich and stepson to the late Roger Zenavich, and a graduate of Brockton High.

William had been a resident of Orrs Island, Maine since 1987 and was a Marine Engine Specialist. Before his retirement he had been owner and operator of Orr’s Island Boat Works. He also had spent countless hours buying and selling antiques and treasures of the local area, his specialty was antique engines and he was a member of the Maine Antique Power Association.

He enjoyed nature and loved camping, fishing, bird watching, and gardening. He also liked to cook and always appreciated a “good meal”.

In addition to his wife Lauren he is survived by his children Debra (Loud) MacLean and her husband John of Pembroke, William Sweetman and his lifelong partner Joe Ryan of Pembroke and Laura (Willard) Clinton and her husband Ken of Carver, his brothers Richard Sweetman and his wife Lorraine of Florida and Donald Sweetman and his wife Elaine of Bridgewater. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday December 20 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, (Rt. 58 @ the Rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held Monday December 19 from 4-8 PM.
