FREEPORT — Robert C. Toothaker Jr., 66, died from cancer at home on Jan. 16.

He was born May 13, 1945 in Brunswick and was a son of Robert C. Sr. and Doris C. Pouliot Toothaker. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Brunswick High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Toothaker learned carpentry while working for his father and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He went on to work for Bath Iron Works for 30 years until he retired due to his cancer diagnosis.

His spent his whole life as a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he always put others’ needs before his own.

Toothaker is survived by his wife of 46 years Angelina Prout Toothaker; brother Steven Toothaker; daughters Marcie Johnson and Elizabeth Toothaker; son Robert Toothaker; and seven grandchildren Megen Pozik, Katrina Toothaker, Chad Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Eden Collins, Scott Collins and Sophia Toothaker.

A graveside service will be announced in the spring by Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick.
