KITTERY — The streaky Freeport High School girls basketball team, after suffering through six consecutive Western Maine Conference losses, has found its stride again after downing Traip Academy on Friday night, picking up a second consecutive victory, 62-58.

The game was tied at 57 with 30 seconds remaining. Falcon guard Leigh Wyman hit a 3-pointer to put Freeport in front, and after Traip (9-7) hit a free throw, Nina Davenport drained two free throws to complete the four- point win.

“It was quite a game,” said Freeport ( 7- 9) coach Jen Chon, whose team plays hosts to Poland in key WMC contest on Tuesday. The Falcons are 11th in the Western Maine Class B Heal Point Standings, with the Knights holding down the 12th and final playoff spot.

Freeport jumped on top 16- 15 in the first quarter, led 28- 21 at the half and 43- 40 through 24 minutes.

Wyman hit six 3-pointers for a game high 28 points for Freeport. She added seven steals and six assists. Davenport chipped in 20 points and eight rebounds, while Aubrey Pennell finished with nine caroms, six assists and a pair of steals.

Selena Lorrey paced Traip with 18 points, while Katherine Volpe added 13 and Kendra Kagilievy nine.

HYDE 6,  RICHMOND 51

The host Bobcats pitched a first-half shutout in rolling to a Class D win over the winless Phoenix (0-15) on Friday.

Richmond posted quarter leads of 21-0 and 36-0 in the first half, and held a 44-2 edge through three quarters.

Jamie Plummer paced the 13- 1 Bobcats, who visit 15-1 Rangeley in a key East-West Conference clash tonight (5 p.m.), with 21 points and seven rebounds. Alyssa Pearson had a doubledouble with 15 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots. Danica Hurley had five steals.

LISBON 43,  BOOTHBAY 61

The host Seahawks took a 32-13 first-half lead in picking up a Mountain Valley Conference win over the 6-10 Greyhounds on Friday.

"The first half killed us, but we are still 11th in Western C and have games against Monmouth (home on Tuesday) and Carrabec that are worth some points coming up,” said Lisbon coach Julie Wescott.

Meghan Smith powered Boothbay ( 10- 6) with 20 points.

Jess Campbell led Lisbon with 15 points. Denise Thomas chipped in seven.
