RICHMOND — The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing and presentation Wednesday on a proposed fireworks ordinance.

The state passed a new law, effective Jan. 1, that legalizes fireworks in Maine, subject to municipal fireworks regulations.

Richmond selectmen surveyed residents for their opinions on the sale and use of personal fireworks in town. Those opinions helped guide town officials as they prepared the local ordinance.

In other business, the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed are expected to talk about their success with the Diver Assisted Suction Harvester (DASH) boat used to remove milfoil from Pleasant Pond. The town helped buy the boat. A discussion of future funding also is expected to take place.

Selectmen also are scheduled to discuss a proposed warrant article for the adoption of building codes, and consider action on land purchase agreement requests related to property owners who are late with their tax payments.

Wednesday’s Board of Selectmen meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the town office, located at 26 Gardiner St.
