BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College Athletic Department hosted a record-setting number of participants at its annual “Girls and Women in Sports Weekend.”

Over the weekend, 225 girls, ages 5-14, participated in the weekend events, which included a Saturday “Luncheon with the Polar Bears” for middle schoolers and Sunday’s increasingly popular “Girls and Women in Sports Day” at Farley Field House. It was the first time in the six-year history of the event that the event surpassed 200 participants.

“The event continues to be wonderful community event that people look forward to participating in from year to year,” said Bowdoin head volleyball coach and event director Karen Corey. “It would not be a success without the student athletes’ participation, though. I cannot thank them enough.”
