BRUNSWICK — The Maine Women’s Lacrosse Officials Association is looking for adults interested in becoming girls lacrosse umpires for the 2012 season.

Prospective candidates can attend one of three sets of classes that run for four weeks through the month of March and early April.

Classes will be held at Brunswick High School on March 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Thornton Academy in Saco on March 5, 19 and 26, and April 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Falmouth High School on March 1, 8, 22 and 29 from, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The cost of the course for new umpires is $ 25 and is non-refundable. This covers the cost of class materials and a 2012 U.S. Lacrosse rule book. MWLOA dues for new umpires are $ 20 and are payable at the last class.

All newly trained umpires will receive instructions on how to register with U. S. Lacrosse during the last session of their four- week course. All umpires must be members of U. S. Lacrosse before umpiring a game to be covered by liability insurance. The annual membership dues are $50.

Prospective umpires will receive a 2012 U.S. Lacrosse rule book at the first class, as well as a folder of information, class notes and diagrams.
