THE WISCASSET HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL honored social studies teacher Kelley Duffy, left, and Cindy Carter, an English teacher and librarian, as teacher of the first quarter and teacher of the second quarter, respectively. Duffy earned such praise as: “This teacher is very, very smart and makes classes so interesting. She encourages us to think and discuss our thoughts. I hope I can be as educated and smart as she is when I get older,” according to a release from the school. Carter, who serves as co-adviser to the Outing Club in addition to teaching senior English and overseeing the school library, was described as “the kind of teacher who helps to empower students to feel good about enjoying the outdoors in Maine.” Along with votes she received comments such as: “This teacher cares about our school and having fun activities for students. Supporting kids is important to this teacher.”
