BRUNSWICK — Lady of Our Hope from Portland got past Cumberland 39-30 in overtime to win the Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department’s Sixth- Grade Boys Basketball Tournament on Sunday.

Lady of Our Hope led 11-6, 21-16 and 26-25 after the first three quarter breaks.

Owen Martinson led the way with 17 points and Terion Moss added 12, while the winners were eight of 16 at the line. Moss had five of his 12 points in the overtime period.

In the Cumberland effort, AJ Eisenhard tossed in 14 points and Wade Sanson added six. Cumberland attempted seven free throws and made two.

Brunswick, 47-39 (OT)

Brunswick opened the seven-team event on Saturday with a win over Rockland.

Rockland led 17-10 and 22-13 before Brunswick rallied with 18 third-quarter points for a 31-31 game heading into the final period. The teams were also tied at 39 at the end of regulation.

Alex Small and Alex Demars each scored 14 points in the win, while Colby Bucknam added nine and Kyle Hanson and Jack Bates four each. Sam Dorval also helped out offensively.

Brunswick was one of two at the line and Rockland three of 13.

Mike Norton poured in 27 points in the loss, while Hunter Davis added seven and Logan Sheridan five.

Lady of Hope, 34-27

Next up, Lady of Hope dispatched Ararat ‘A’ as Moss scored 12 points and Martinson seven. The winners led 12-4, 24-15 and 32-17 at the breaks and were two of nine at the line.

In the Ararat ‘A’ offense, Corson Swan had 10 points, Matt Rines and Nick Merrill six each and Kyle Brennan four, while Nathan Kendrick was an offensive contributor. Ararat ‘A’ attempted four free throws and made one.

Cumberland, 40-19

The third quarterfinal game on Saturday saw Cumberland defeat Ararat ‘B’ with period leads of 10-2, 16-3, and 34-9.

Sanson and Shane DeWolfe split 14 points evenly and the winners were five of 10 at the line.

Ryan Mello led Ararat ‘B’ with seven points, while Logan Elzroth had six and Peter Lavan four. Greg Malin also chipped in with a basket and the losers were three of 12 at the line.

Lady of Hope, 51-22

In the first Sunday semifinal clash, Lady of Our Hope dispatched Brunswick with quarterly leads of 23-2, 30-12 and 38-18.

In a balanced attack, Moss, Griffin Foley, Martinson and Omar Contreras each had eight points and Zach Broome six. Lady of Hope was seven of 15 at the line.

In the Brunswick effort, Bucknam and Bates split 10 points evenly and Demars and Max Friedman had four each, while Small and Forrest Blankenship also contributed offensively.

Brunswick attempted seven free throws and made three.

Cumberland, 41-17

In the second semifinal contest, Cumberland turned back Pen Bay of the Camden area as Nick Gauvin scored 12 points, Sanson eight, Jack Kane seven and Eisenhart six.

Cumberland was five of 14 at the line and Pen Bay five of 12.

Conrad Crans scored eight points for Pen Bay, while Tucker Grinell added five and Brandon McDonald four.

Ararat ‘A’, 54-24

In the first of two consolation games, Ararat ‘A’ led 11-9, 29- 15 and 40-21 in beating Rockland.

Rines popped in 15 points to lead Ararat ‘A,’ while Mello had 14, Tanner Greenleaf 12, Merrill six and Cole Kelly five. Peter Lavan also tossed in a basket. Ararat ‘A’ was three of nine at the line.

Rockland’s Norton tossed in 19 points and the losing effort saw eight free throws with two makes.

Ararat ‘B,’ 43-19

In the final consolation game, Ararat ‘B’ led 5-4, 22-15 and 32-17 at the breaks en route to a win over Pen Bay.

In a balanced Ararat ‘ B’ effort, Elzroth and Austin Malin had eight points each, Blair Kopp seven, Zack Caouette and Mello six each and Connor Brown and Lavan four each.

Ararat ‘B’ was seven of 11 at the line and Pen Bay zero for six.

McDonald paced Pen Bay with eight points and Cooper Twitchell added four.
