BRUNSWICK — The Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association has announced its 2012 All-State honors and three members of the Bowdoin College women’s basketball team were featured in the awards.

Jill Henrikson of Bath was named First Team All-State, while Sara Binkhorst was named to the All- Rookie Team. Head coach Adrienne Shibles was honored as the Maine State Coach of the Year.

Henrikson recorded one of the best single seasons in the storied history of Bowdoin women’s basketball by averaging 16.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest. Three times named as the NESCAC’s Player of the Week this winter, she led the conference in scoring, was first in steals (2.7/game), first in free throw percentage (.862) and third in 3-pointers made (53). She was also named First Team All-NESCAC and Honorable Mention All- American.

Binkhorst enjoyed a solid debut campaign for Bowdoin, playing in 27 of the team’s 29 games and averaging 14.1 minutes per contest. She stepped into the starting lineup for five games in the middle of the season and averaged 11.2 points and 2.6 assists during those five contests. She finished the year averaging 4.4 points.

Shibles earns her third Maine State Coach of the Year honor after yet another excellent season. In her fourth season at the helm of the Polar Bears in 2011-12, she guided the team to a 21- 8 record and NCAA “Sweet Sixteen” appearance. Shibles is the first coach in program history to reach 20 wins in each of her first four seasons. She has an overall record of 91-26 (.777) at Bowdoin with four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances to her credit.
