Dresden-Richmond United Methodist Church

RICHMOND — Special Holy Week services are planned at Dresden-Richmond United Methodist Church.

Palm Sunday will be observed on April 1 at 10 a.m.

A Maundy Thursday service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

A Good Friday Tenebrae service is planned on April 6 at 6:30 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, there will be a sunrise service at the gazebo on the Richmond waterfront beginning at 6:30 a.m. It will be followed by a continental breakfast at the church.

The regular worship service begins at 10 a.m.

Bath United Methodist Church

BATH — The Bath United Methodist Church will hold an Easter egg hunt at the church, 340 Oak Grove Ave., on April 7 at 10 a.m.

This activity is for ages 1 to 8. In the event of inclement weather, the activity will be held in the church. Juice and sweets will be served to the children after the egg hunt.

Day’s Ferry Congregational Church

WOOLWICH — The Day’s Ferry Congregational Church is planning several special services during Holy Week.

It will begin on Sunday with a 10 a.m. Palm Sunday worship service.

It continues with the annual Maundy Thursday Tenebrae service on April 5 at 7 p. m., led by the Rev. Alan Baughcum. The service will include special music and feature soloist Lauren Haven.

Easter Sunday, April 8, begins with breakfast from 8 to 9:15 a. m. and concludes with a worship service at 10 a.m.

Cundy’s Harbor Community Church

HARPSWELL — Special Holy Week services are planned at Cundy’s Harbor Community Church of the Nazarene.

A Good Friday service will be held April 6 at 7 p.m.

An Easter sunrise service is planned at 6 a.m. on April 8 at Watson’s Wharf.

A free community potluck breakfast at Cundy’s Harbor Community Hall will run from 7 to 9 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will be held at the hall.

A 10 a.m. worship service will conclude the celebration. There will be no Sunday school during that service.

First Parish Church UCC

BRUNSWICK — As part of Holy Week, First Parish Church UCC will open its labyrinth to the public on Good Friday, April 6, from noon to 8 p.m. in Pilgrim House, 9 Cleaveland St.

The labyrinth is an 11 circuit Chartres-style pattern, painted on a 30-foot canvas. Unlike a maze, which is intended to confuse, a labyrinth has a singular path to the center and back out, freeing the walker from decision making and letting his mind rest. A labyrinth tender is always present to answer questions.

Phippsburg churches

PHIPPSBURG — The Popham Chapel will host the community Easter sunrise service on April 8 on the beach in front of Spinney’s restaurant.

The service, which begins at 6 a.m., is led by clergy from three churches in town, the Rev. Mark Wilson of Phippsburg Congregational Church, the Rev. Dan Coffin of Small Point Baptist Church and the Rev. Janet Leighninger of Popham Chapel.

Following the service, the Popham Chapel will host a breakfast at the Popham Chapel House at 7 a.m. At 10 a.m., the chapel will hold its traditional Easter service with its newly appointed minister. The Rev. Leighninger will lead the congregation in worship for the first time, and Richard Hankinson will return to share his music.

The Phippsburg Congregational Church service will also be held at 10 a.m. and the Small Point Baptist Church service will be at 10:30 a.m.

First Baptist and First Parish

POWNAL — An Easter sunrise service will be held April 8 on the peak of Bradbury Mountain in Pownal beginning at 6 a.m.

Sponsoring churches are First Parish Congregational Church in Pownal and First Baptist Church of Freeport.

Pastor Sandy Williams of First Baptist will officiate the service on the mountain. The Rev. Steve Little will lead a service under the shelter at the foot of the mountain for those unable to climb the mountain. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Pownal church.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served at the church following the service.

TOPSHAM — Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church has announced its Holy Week schedule of services.

On Palm Sunday, April 1, the 10:10 a.m. worship will be preceded by a procession of the palms with children, choir and congregation.

A 7 p.m. service is planned on Maundy Thursday. It includes the retelling of the Passion with the disciples and celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

On Good Friday, April 6, a prayer vigil will be held in the sanctuary from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 4 p.m., there will be a screening of “The Last Temptation of Christ,” followed by discussion at 7 p.m.

On Easter, April 8, a sunrise service will be held on the front lawn at 6 a.m. “Celebration of the Risen Christ” will begin at 10:10 a.m.

Corliss Street Baptist Church

BATH — Corliss Street Baptist Church has planned some special observances during the Easter season.

A Palm Sunday service will be held on April 1. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed at 10:30 a.m. by Discovery Club ( a Pioneers Club). Morning worship will be held at 11 a.m.

On Maundy Thursday, a communion service is planned at 7 p.m. The message will focus on “The Hour of Darkness.”

Easter Sunday, April 8, begins at 6 a.m. with the Bath Community Easter Sunrise Service at City Park gazebo near the Patten Free Library. The service is sponsored by the greater Bath Association of Churches. At 7 a.m., breakfast will be served at Corliss Street’s church annex.

Sunday school and Discovery Club will meet at 9:30 and 10:30 respectively. They’ll be followed by the 11 a.m. worship service, “The Resurrection.”
