FALMOUTH — The Oratorio Chorale will present “Hausmusik,” a benefit concert of vocal solos, duets and quartets at 3 p.m. Sunday at Falmouth Congregational Church.

Soprano Christina Astrachan and mezzo-soprano Jennifer Hansen will join Timothy Neill Johnson, tenor, and John D. Adams, bass, all of whom perform regularly with the Oratorio Chorale. Noted pianists Frank Glazer and Chiharu Naruse will accompany the four singers in a program of songs by Schumann, Faure, Brahms and Copland.

The term “Hausmusik” has been associated with the chamber music of the Romantic Era, an area of special interest to the Oratorio Chorale’s guest musicians.

An Oratorio Chorale release describes the musicians as follows:

Christina Astrachan is a frequent soloist with many musical organizations, including the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Concert Association, the Maine Music Society, the Down East Singers, the Bowdoin Chorus and the Oratorio Chorale.

Jennifer Hansen has performed as soloist throughout northern New England with such choral societies as the Concord Community Chorus, the Brattleboro Music Center Community Chorus, the Oratorio Chorale, and with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra.

She has performed more than oratorio roles, including the Requiem Masses of Durufle, Dvorak, Mozart and Verdi. In recent years, she has performed with the Boston Vocal Artists and in recitals at Dartmouth College, Middlebury College, the University of Maine at Farmington and the Canterbury Shaker Village Summer Music Series.

Tenor Timothy Neill Johnson has performed with the Los Angeles Baroque Ensemble; La Petite Bande; Collegium Vocale; Le Concert Spirituel de Paris; and Apollo’s Fire. He is currently on the faculty of both Bowdoin College and the University of Maine in Augusta.

Frank Glazer, pianist, has had a long and distinguished career as a soloist, recording artist, chamber musician and teacher. Called “ a master musician as well as a virtuoso,” his performances have been praised as formidable, extraordinary and phenomenal. The 97-year old Glazer has performed in 24 countries.

Pianist Chiharu Naruse has performed throughout the world in recitals and piano competitions, including in Japan, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. She moved to the United States to study under Frank Glazer.
