OGUNQUIT (AP) — Police have released the name of the Massachusetts man who died after falling into the ocean while walking along some rocks in southern Maine.

Authorities say 57-year-old Bruce Brodigan of Somerville, Mass. apparently lost his footing while walking along a seaside path in Ogunquit known as Marginal Way at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said in a release Monday that a local resident provided a boat for emergency personnel to reach Brodigan. He was pulled onto the boat where resuscitation efforts began.

Brodigan was transported back to shore where an ambulance transported him to York Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police tell WMTW-TV that the cause of death remains under investigation.
