BRUNSWICK — An 18-year-old Brunswick man faces four counts of misdemeanor theft after police say he took vehicles from various spots around town for joyrides earlier this week.

Police said today that keys had been left in all of the stolen vehicles.

Stephen Beaulieu, 18, whose address was not listed, was charged Thursday with four Class D counts of theft by unauthorized use of property and released on unsecured bail, Brunswick Police Detective Sgt. Martin Rinaldi said.

Beaulieu was apprehended Thursday morning in the parking lot of the Bath Shaw’s Supermarket, after the victim of the most recent car theft allegedly spotted Beaulieu in the vehicle he had taken.

On Wednesday night, the 2008 Honda Odyssey was stolen from the parking lot behind Henry and Marty Restaurant on Maine Street, according to Rinaldi. The keys had been left in the car.

Police also charged Beaulieu with three similar crimes earlier this week.

A 1999 Mazda Protégé was reported stolen from the parking lot of the China Rose restaurant on Bath Road. That car was recovered, also undamaged, on School Street on Monday afternoon.

On Monday afternoon, Brunswick officers responded to Don Foshay’s Discount Tire on Bath Road for a report that a white Ford Explorer had been stolen, Hagan said. That vehicle was recovered, undamaged, on Tuesday on Gilman Avenue.
