TOPSHAM — Veteran biologist Nathan Henderson has joined the environmental services division of Stantec’s Maine operations, according to a news release.

As a senior aquatic biologist and project manager, Henderson will focus on expanding the company’s aquatic work, particularly in managing power and industrial clients’ compliance with the new 316b requirements of the Clean Water Act for water intake. The focus of this effort is to help clients develop strategic programs that minimize the impacts of fish impingement and entrainment.

Based in Stantec’s Topsham and Scarborough offices, Henderson comes to Stantec from AECOM in South Portland, where he managed the office and focused on work involving aquatic habitat restoration, dive surveys, and ecological health risk characterizations, among other services.

Henderson holds a bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries biology and a master’s in wildlife and fisheries conservation, both from the University of Massachusetts, and is a certified fisheries professional by the American Fisheries Society.

Stantec employs more than 200 engineers, planners and environmental scientists between its Scarborough, Topsham and Limestone offices.

Stantec provides professional consulting services in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics for infrastructure and facilities projects.
