Topsham police arrested a Lewiston man Friday morning.

Interim Police Chief Christopher Lewis said Gerard McNeal, 26, of 20 Darcy St., Lewiston, was involved in a domestic violence incident Tuesday after which he allegedly drove away in the victim’s vehicle.

Topsham police obtained a warrant for McNeal’s arrest. Lisbon police took him into custody Thursday night while responding to a disorderly conduct call involving another man McNeal happened to be with. Lisbon police McNeal to Androscoggin County Jail, where Topsham Police Officer Randy Cook served the warrant on him at 9 a.m. Friday.

McNeal was charged with violation of a protection from abuse order; domestic violence assault; obstructing report of a crime; theft by unauthorized taking; and violation of condition of release. He was transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

The warrant stems from an incident initially reported to police at 12:52 p.m. Tuesday. Mike Labbe, the town’s EMS director, was responding to the call when he came upon a vehicle stopped in the middle of Bridge Street with a male and female inside engaged in a heated argument, Lewis said. As Labbe rode up on scene, the female was outside the vehicle and the male subject took off in the vehicle which the woman identified as hers.
