Spiess invites Georgetown residents to bring their Native American artifacts to the Georgetown Historical Society, 20 Bay Point Road, for him to examine and share what he knows about the items.
“Because of the anticipated interest, this event is limited to Georgetown property owners and those who plan to attend are asked to please limit their items to just a few,” a release from the society states.
No appointments are necessary.Spiess has been an archaeologist at the Maine Historic Preservation Commission for 34 years and has directed field excavations at approximately 100 sites. His job involves locating, identifying and protecting significant archaeological sites, including nomination of sites to the National Register of Historic Places.
