DICK HOGUE scoops ice cream at the Freeport Community Center during a donor celebration event last month. It was one of two events to the Freeport Community Services Capital Campaign Committee hosted to recognize donors in May. The celebrations included a garden party for 80 of the organization’s major donors on May 17 and an ice cream social on May 20. Ice cream for the event was donated by Mainely Custard, Johnny Rockets, Derosiers Market, and Ben and Jerry’s. The community center, at 53 Depot St., is now in its 39th year and is open six days a week to residents of Freeport and Pownal, and houses a teen center, food pantry, thrift shop and elders’ meeting place.
