TOPSHAM — A “Homeschooling: Getting Started Mini Expo” is planned on Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 771 Lewiston Road.

The free expo is sponsored by Homeschoolers of Maine.

The day begins with a workshop at 9 a.m., dealing with topics such as homeschooling laws, record keeping, curriculum planning, helpful resources, portfolio/assessment options, support groups, special needs students, and more.

Diane Simmler, a 20-plus year veteran of homeschooling will lead the workshop, which is geared for anyone beginning to homeschool or just seeking more information.

Veterans will be on hand to offer encouragement and share their experiences.

At 10 a.m., a question-and-answer panel of homeschool moms will field questions from the audience.

From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., the session will be “beyond the Basics Mini Expo.” “There are many organizations and individuals in the area who are equipped and excited to provide individualized and/or group instruction in the ‘extracurriculars,’” states a promotional flier. “Today you will be able to talk to some of these people, see what they have to offer and maybe even sign your children up for classes or lessons.”

For more information, contact Simmler at 443-5808 or diane@simmlers.com; or Amanda Lambert at 375-4799 or firelight77@rocketmail.com.
