The school’s staff voted unanimously to name Doran this year’s Citizen of the Year. He accepted the award May 17 at Crooker Theater in Brunswick High School. Doran “lives his life for the benefit of others,” Lohnes told those who attended the May 17 event. “Jon’s help and friendliness goes far beyond basic volunteerism — he represents community-based education at its finest.” Doran serves on the advisory committee for the school’s auto technology and auto collision programs. According to a release about the award, Doran “donates many hours with his students, introducing them to new concepts and products.” Instructor David Giroux added that “Jon arrives when needed, always lending a helping hand; Region 10 is truly indebted to him.”
