A little girl had the measles. Her infected eyes could not stand the sunlight. It made her squint and turn to the wall. So, her mother darkened the room to relieve the glare that was hurting her.
As darkness filled the room, the mother asked, “Are you afraid of the dark?”
The little girl quickly responded, “I am not afraid, Mother, as long as I can touch you.”
There may be times when we feel as though we cannot see God or feel His presence, or we feel as though He is not listening. But there is never a time when He is beyond our touch.
The Psalmist said that he felt forgotten. All of us have our dark, lonely days of despair. And we may feel the same as the Psalmist felt.
The Lord has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” … “and I am with you always!”
More often than not, it may be that we have forgotten or forsaken Him when we feel alone or afraid.
