Portland Boxing Club competitors won three of their four fights in a recent card at Belfast High School.
Christian Castenada, a junior novice lightweight (141 pounds), won a split decision over William Whitley of Holyoke, Mass. Jason Quirk, an open middleweight (165 pounds) returning to the ring after four years in the Coast Guard, earned a split decision over Mike Rodrigues of Springfield, Mass. Justin Keenie, a heavyweight, scored a unanimous decision over Joel Bishop of Bingham.

John Lopez, an open featherweight (124 pounds) lost a split decision to Josh Bickford of Mount Holly, Vt.
• Brook Davis hit two home runs and Katie Stewart won her fourth game of the tournament as Biddeford captured the Little League Softball District 4 championship with a 9-4 win over Kennebunk. Biddeford also got key contributions from Lillie Donovan, who scored at least twice in all five tournament games.
The team qualified for the state tournament, which starts Friday in Bar Harbor.
• Meghan Kelley, 14, of Falmouth recently teamed with teaching pro Daniel Quiceno, 32, of Beverly, Mass., to win the mixed doubles championship at a U.S. Tennis Association New England sectional tournament in New Haven, Conn.
Kelley and Quiceno defeated a pair of 18-year-olds, Nolan Paige and Ashley Noyes, 6-3, 6-4, to earn one of 13 berths in the U.S. Open National Playoffs, to be held in conjunction with the New Haven Open in August. Should Kelley and Quiceno win that tournament, they would receive a wild card into the U.S. Open in New York.
• Sam Kelley of Scarborough scored his second hole-in-one of the season when he aced the 180-yard 15th hole at the Purpoodock Club in Cape Elizabeth, using a metal wood. His first hole-in-one came on an out-of-state trip in March. His playing partners this time were Tom Keefer, Jim Harvey and Jim McFarlane.
• Roger Ouellette made his first hole-in-one on the 15th hole at Nonesuch River Golf Club on June 25. Ouellette used a 9-iron for the 137-yard shot, which was witnessed by Nick Boob and Ron Hebert.
• Bob Taylor aced the 17th hole at Portland Country Club. Taylor used an 18-degree hybrid for the 185-yard shot, which was witnessed by Santo Cimino, David Drake and Dr. Gary Palman.
• Chuck Simonds made a hole-in-one on the 145-yard fourth hole at Toddy Brook Golf Course. Simonds used a 7-iron for the shot, which was witnessed by John Ellison.
• Charlie Healy aced the sixth hole at Spring Meadows Golf Club on June 27. He used an 8-iron for the 124-yard shot, which was witnessed by Tom Lloyd and Jim Moran.
• Charlie McKee had a hole-in-one on the 160-yard eighth hole at the Biddeford-Saco Country Club. Witnesses were Frank Olson, Bill Thompson and George Gillespie.
