NEWCASTLE — The Newcastle Historical Society and the Edgecomb Historical Society will join forces to present “The Lost Community of Mt. Hunger” at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Room of the Newcastle Fire Station on the River Road.

Local historian Bob Brown will share his knowledge of Mt. Hunger, “where now all that is left of the community are old cellar holes, beautiful stone walls and ancient apple trees,” a release from the societies states. “Years ago sheep roamed the rocky knolls near a huge barn bearing a sign with the slogan ‘Something doing all the time. The band plays every night.’ We will also hear stories from longtime residents about their memories of Mt. Hunger.”

Admission is free of charge, but donations are accepted. Refreshments will be served after the program.
