PORTLAND — The Maine Historical Society in Portland now offers walking tours of the historic Old Port section of the city.

Formerly offered through Greater Portland Landmarks, these 90-minute tours are conducted by trained guides from the Maine Historical Society Museum and Store at 489 Congress St.

“The walking tours will cover the scope of the peninsula’s maritime and social history,” a Maine Historical Society release states. “The uses and styles of landmark buildings and sites will anchor a discussion of how life in the city has changed over time.”

Tours kick off at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Tours cost $10 per person. They are not recommended for children younger than 12.
