An 82-year-old Topsham man sustained minor abrasions on his hand Tuesday afternoon after he was dragged a short distance by his Toyota Prius on Center Street.

The man parked the vehicle and thought he had shut it off, but it began to move backwards as he exited the car, Brunswick Police Officer Tom Stanton said.

“It dragged him 15 or 20 feet until the vehicle stopped,” Stanton said.

Residents assisted the man until police and emergency personnel arrived.
