Two York County restaurants participating in Child week

Two Maine restaurants are joining more than 100 across the country participating in Julia Child Restaurant Week Aug. 7-15.

The restaurants will feature dishes, menus or events inspired by 100 of Child’s most cherished recipes. The recipes were chosen by a jury headed by Child’s longtime editor Judith Jones. Notable chefs such as Alice Waters, Barbara Lynch, Michel Richard, Traci Des Jardins and Emeril Lagasse are taking part, in honor of Child’s 100th birthday on Aug. 15.

In Maine, Arrows in Ogunquit and the York Harbor Inn in York Harbor have signed up.

The week will culminate with the publication of “Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child” by Bob Spitz (Knopf, $28.95), a new biography.

Throughout the celebration, chefs, bloggers and food lovers will share their memories, photos and tributes to Julia Child at:
