SOUTH PORTLAND — Spectrum Medical Group, a physician-owned, multi-specialty practice with more than 150 board-certified physicians, recently announced that Medical Rehabilitation Associates (MRA) has become part of the organization.

According to a news release, the services provided by MRA will form the medical rehabilitation division of Spectrum Medical Group.

“The addition of the talented medical staff at MRA to the Spectrum team provides both greater depth and breadth to our core services,” said David Landry, chief executive officer of Spectrum Medical Group.

MRA, with offices in Lewiston, Brunswick and Rockport, provides pain management and rehabilitation services to patients. Its mission is to provide integrated, rehabilitation services that promote physical, behavioral and occupational health.

Douglas Pavlak, M.D., president and founder of MRA, welcomed the collaboration as an opportunity to improve organizational effectiveness and the value of the services it provides.

“The quality assurance programs at Spectrum Medical Group are spectacular. Many of their initiatives are recognized nationwide for their ability to reduce errors and improve efficiency. Joining their team will allow us to raise the bar in terms of quality delivery and the consolidation of our operations will undoubtedly reduce costs. This is not only mutually beneficial to the two organizations, but also a ‘win’ for our patients,” Pavlak said.

Pavlak will serve as the managing director of the new division and join the Spectrum board of directors.
