Community Club potluck supper
The North Pownal Community Club will be hosting their monthly potluck supper on Saturday, Aug. 11 starting at 6 p.m. Bring your own utensils, plates and cups and a dish to share. You do not have to be a club “member” to participate in the potlucks. Bring the whole family and be prepared for some good conversation, lively debate and good old-fashioned neighborliness. Pownal Congregational Church bean supper
On Saturday, Aug. 18, the Pownal Congregational Church will be hosting a bean supper. There are seatings at 5 and at 6 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 5-12 and children under 5 eat free. For reservations call Lois Saunders at 688-4433.
Town looking for RSU rep
The town of Pownal is looking for a volunteer to serve one year of a three-year term for a vacant seat on the RSU 5 Board of Directors.

Food pantry open on Tuesdays
The North Pownal United Methodist Church on Lawrence Road has new hours for distributing food from its pantry. It is now open every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.- noon. Volunteers never know from week to week what will be available, but the pantry usually gets different kinds of breads, produce, desserts, etc. All are welcome.Students achieve at USM
Chelsea Harlow and Jenna Pope, both of Pownal, have been named tot he dean’s list at the University of Southern Maine. Keely Anderson and Page Nichols, also of Pownal and a part-time students at USM, has been named to the dean’s list.
