BOWDOINHAM — As part of its ongoing exhibit “Three Town Artists: Carlo Pittore, Bryce Muir & Carter Smith,” the Merrymeeting Arts Center, 9 Main St., announces Carlofest from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Carlofest will honor Carlo Pittore with a series of events beginning at noon, Pittore was a longtime Bowdoinham resident before his death in 2005 and the maestro of the Carlo Pittore Academy which continues the figure drawing classes he started in the 1980s.

— Noon to 2 p.m.: Yarting: an informal gathering of boats that will go out on Merrymeeting Bay for a combination of eating-drawing-boating concocted by Pittore and Bryce Muir. Kayakers, canoeists and boaters are welcome. Passengers welcome where there’s space.

— 3 p.m.: talk by Edgar Allen Been on “Carlo’s Art Activism” at MAC.

— 4 to 5 p.m.: tour of the “Three Town Artists Show.”

— 5 p.m.: Gala spaghetti supper by local chefs in recognition of Pittore’s love of food and Italy. Pre-registration by Friday is requested and the cost is $20 per person.

— 6:30 p.m.: Free concert by “Cheddar & Smack,” a crossover modern roots and country blues band. It’s part of the Bowdoinham Summer Concert Series at the gazebo adjacent to the arts center.

The “Three Town Artists” exhibit is funded by the 250th Anniversary Committee of the town of Bowdoinham, and supported by the Carlo Pittore Foundation for the Figurative Arts. It will run until Sept. 23, through the town’s official birthday celebration on Sept. 14 through 16. MAC is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. On the day of Carlofest, the hours will be extended until 5 p.m.

Many oils and watercolors by Pittore of town landscapes and town residents will be part of the exhibit and will be for sale.
