BATH — The public is invited to the first gathering of the Midcoast Chapter of Maine AllCare at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 at the Bath City Hall auditorium.

The speaker for the evening will be Dr. Julie Pease of Brunswick, president of Maine AllCare, who will show a film called, “The Healthcare Movie,” that, according to a news release, “highlights the problems of providing excellent medical care for all of us.”

The news release continues to describe the organization as follows:

The mission of the Midcoast AllCare, an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, is to promote quality, affordable, equitable and universal health care for Maine people through research, education and advocacy. Maine AllCare is a chapter of the national Physicians for a National Health Program. AllCare members believe there is no excuse for “letting friends and neighbors die for lack of health care,” the news release said.

The group has formed to share common interests in doing something to improve the quality and affordability of health care in Maine. The first gathering is an opportunity to learn more about the health care dilemma.

There will be refreshments and a social after the film.
