TOPSHAM

Two Topsham teens were charged with burglary and theft after a laptop, stolen from homes in two different burglaries, led police to the two suspects.

On Aug. 11, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both of Topsham, were issued one charge each of Class C burglary and Class E theft.

Topsham Police Chief Christopher Lewis said the charges stem from a burglary in Bay Park in May, when a residence was entered and a laptop was stolen.

Lewis said another residential burglary was reported on July 21 on Bridge Street during which the same laptop was stolen. An investigation of the second burglary revealed that one of the residents of the home purchased a laptop they knew may possibly have been stolen, which lead police to the two teens.

The two have not been linked to the second burglary on Bridge Street, Lewis said, adding there could be a second set of suspects involved in that incident.
