AUGUSTA — A Portland vocalist is singing the National Anthem as the Boston Red Sox observe Maine Day at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox face the Kansas City Royals in the Maine Day game Sunday. Gov. Paul LePage has proclaimed Sunday as Maine Red Sox Day throughout the state of Maine.

At Fenway, Michaela Boissoneault of Portland will sing the “Star Spangled Banner” and Maine State Police will serve as Honor Guard before the game. Sharon Buck of Clinton will sing “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch.

LePage says there are plenty of Red Sox fans in Maine and Sunday will be an opportunity to display that pride and show off a little of what Maine has to offer.

Fenway Park opened 100 years ago.
