WISCASSET — A special food tour of Castle Tucker, 2 Lee St., will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

A news release describes the tour as follows:

From 1858 when she moved in as a young bride of 16 until her death in 1922, Mollie Tucker, the wife of Capt. Richard Tucker, Jr., prepared food at Castle Tucker for her family of eight, visiting friends and relatives, and in the summer season, paying guests.

Letters from her children attest to the importance of food in their lives and in their memories of home. What did they eat? How was food prepared and served?

Castle Tucker was built in 1807 and occupied by the Tucker family for almost a 150 years. The kitchen houses four generations of domestic technology, from an early 19th century hearth to an early 20th century Hoosier cabinet. The mansion and grounds reveal a fascinating view of the lives of three generations of a Wiscasset family.

Advance reservations are required. Space is limited. Admission is $10 for members of Historic New England and $15 for non-members.
