Let the days shorten, let the weather go south, there is always something new and something needed going on at People Plus.

Let a master woodcarver start you on a new hobby; come to a class and challenge your weight, your balance skills, or just improve your general fitness; while challenging yourself to learn more about current events.

“We try very hard to strike a balance,” offered member services coordinator Frank Connors. “We know folks are busy, we know it’s an effort to add activities to busy personal calendars, but day after day, we prove the worth and value of a simple visit to People Plus.”

James Wade offers a fiveweek introductory course in wood carving starting Oct. 2. Ed Knox opens his discussion group on “affairs and reactions” in the Middle East the next week. Jack Hudson continues his custom tutorials in our new computer lab, and if you’re lucky you can get a seat in Suzanne Neuveux’s always popular, Loosen Up! exercise program, offered now on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Get a jump on the cold season at the second program in our automotive series, “Prep your car for winter,” offered by the service guys at the Bill Dodge Auto Group.

The co-op class in Ancestry.com continues with the crew at Curtis Memorial Library as well as “Facebook” and “How to Google” classes taught at the center. The new collaboration with Adventures in Language and Culture brings a day trip to Rangeley on Oct. 3, and there are plans taking hold for more trips with the Bath Senior Citizens. The Amtrak Downeaster train starts Brunswick service in November and is the perfect way for a jaunt down to Boston or just to the Old Port.

So come on in to see us, be sure to check us out online at www.peopleplusmaine.org, read our People Plus News from cover to cover every month, and the approaching fall-winter season will lose just a little more of its bite.
