PORTLAND — Deke Andrew announced his resignation Friday as head coach of the boys lacrosse team at Cheverus High School.

“The growth of my year-round lacrosse business, our new indoor facility and my new family leave me with little time to coach in the spring,” said Andrew, who coached the Stags for their first 14 seasons of varsity competition. “I can’t ask 100 percent from the boys when I am unable to give 100 percent myself.”

Last June, Scarborough defeated Cheverus, 9-4, in the Class A state championship game.
