BATH — Dreamland Theater will screen “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St. This is the first movie of the season for Sagadahoc Preservation Inc., which produces Dreamland Theater.

This year, films will be shown every Thursday through April. “Our regular moviegoers encouraged us to do this every week. They said we should make Thursdays ‘movie night in Bath,’ so we listened,” Mike Fear, chairman of the Dreamland Committee, said in a news release.

Released in 1975, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” was co-directed by Terry Gillam and Terry Jones. This was the first time any of the cast members of the British Broadcasting Corp.’s “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” was behind the camera. The film was nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and was later used by fellow cast member Eric Idle as the platform for the 2005 Tony Award-winning Broadway play “Spamalot.”

Now You’re Cooking, this week’s sponsor, is going to award a prize for the best Spam hors d’oeuvres. Participants are invited to bring their hors d’oeuvres to the Winter Street Center at 6:30 p.m. and judging will take place prior to the movie.

The suggested donation is $5. All proceeds go toward the maintenance of the Winter Street Center.

Soft drinks, popcorn and candies are available for $1 each. For information, email dreamland@sagadahocpreservation.org.
