The daughter of the late Alma (Emma) Dufresne and Frank Boucher, she was born on May 17, 1922 in Brunswick, Maine and had lived there most of her life. In July 1943, she married Robert Dumais in Brunswick. He died in 1997.
Although Louise was a homemaker most of her life, when her children were in grade school she was active in the PTA. Later, she served on the Board of Directors of United Pejepscot Housing for nine years, six years as Secretary. She was active at St Charles Church as Church Council President for two years, as a Commission member through 2004, and she was also a lector at masses for a number of years. She volunteered at Red Cross Bloodmobiles for over 25 years as well as volunteering at the polls for many years. She enjoyed swimming most of her life. She especially enjoyed getting together with family, friends, and her 1940 classmates.
She is survived by three sons and five daughters: Robert Dumais Jr. (and his life-partner Frank Amagliani) of Memphis, Tennessee; Michael Dumais (and his wife Maggie Franco) of Topsham, Maine; Frank Dumais of Salem, Massachusetts; Dorothy Stackpole (and her husband Keith) of North Yarmouth, Maine; Susan Jones (and her husband Tom) of Lusby, Maryland; Margaret (Peggy) Rice (and her husband David) of Lincolnville, Maine; Denise DeGruchy (and her husband David) of Gray, Maine; and Mary Dumais of Lisbon Falls, Maine. She is also survived by eight grandchildren (Leanne Hansen, Erin Duford, Emily DeGruchy, Matthew DeGruchy, Nathan Jones, Amanda Zimmerman, Bronwen Rice and Jacob Minardi), as well as five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by two brothers, Emile (Frank) Boucher and Dr Raymond Boucher, and by two sisters, Irene Gagnon and Lucille Boucher.

We are especially thankful for the outstanding care she received, during the last few weeks of her life, from both the staff at Freeport Place and the CHANS Hospice Team with special thanks and gratitude to JoEllen Sturgis for her caring guidance through this difficult process.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal Street, Brunswick, Maine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11:00 am at St Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen Street, Brunswick, Maine. Burial at St. John’s Cemetery will immediately follow the Mass and then a Celebration of Life Reception will take place in the church parish hall. The family invites all who knew Louise to come, eat, share memories, and celebrate the ways she may have touched your life during her 90 years with us.
