Awards

Gettysburg, Pa., College: John Price IV, Kennebunk, has received the James Boyd Hartzell Memorial Award. Students were selected on the basis of academic achievement and community service.

Ithaca, N.Y., College: Christopher Frost, Windham, was inducted into the college’s Oracle Honor Society for first-year students in the top 10 percent of all students at their school.

Marietta, Ohio, College: Kasey Woodworth, North Berwick, has been named to the 2013 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

Thomas College, Waterville: Jason Badeau of Gorham, Forrest Collins of Kingfield, Whitney Rolfe of Norway and Renata Schalk of Sabattus have recently been inducted into the college’s chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Society.

Wellesley, Mass., College: Kelsey Heroux, York, is one of 40 students selected to be a Fellow for the 2013 Madeleine Korbel Albright Institute for Global Affairs, an intensive three-week session held annually in January. Albright, a 1959 graduate of Wellesley College, will attend several days of the institute.

Worcester, Mass., Polytechnic Institute: Matthew Coughlin of Falmouth is one of 11 undergraduates to be awarded a Power and Energy Systems Scholarship by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Maine Policy Scholars for 2013 have been announced by the Maine Community Foundation. One student from each University of Maine system campus has been selected to participate in a year-long program of applied research in the area of Maine public policy. The students and their campus are: Al French, Augusta; Luis Herrera, Machias; Dovey Balsam, Farmington; Thomas Conley, Orono; Chase Card-Burns, Fort Kent; Adam Pinette, Presque Isle; Christy Daggett, University of Southern Maine.
