Pownal selectmen meet Monday, March 4 and Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in the DeWitt Room, Mallett Hall.

The Planning Board’s ongoing review of the Zoning Ordinance draft will be on Tuesdays, March 5 and 19, from 8-9:30 a.m., at Mallett Hall in the Old Selectmen’s Office. All Planning Board meetings, onsite inspections and workshops are open to the public.

Lenten Bible Study?at Methodist church

Every Tuesday through March 26, at 6:30 p.m., the people of the North Pownal Methodist Church will study Adam Hamilton’s “24 Hours That Changed the World.” The special program will include worship, sermons, and small-group studies that feature videos, Bible study and discussion. The study, published by Abingdon Press, was developed by Adam Hamilton, pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kan., and is intended for anyone who is interested in the Christian faith.

New Wine concert March 10

The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, Pownal, is sponsoring a community supper Saturday, March 10, at 5 p.m., or which a donation will be accepted, with a concert by New Wine to follow. Admission is free. A free-will offering will be taken.

New Wine is a Christian band. Members include Mario Blais, bass guitar/vocals; David Chick, electric guitar/vocals; Roger Cusson, drums;Vickie O’Brien, acoustic guitar/vocals; Dick Waters, piano/guitar/vocals; Judy Cusson, sound engineering.

Food pantry open Tuesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on Lawrence Road is open every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.-noon. All are welcome.

News from Royal River Conservation Trust

Royal River Conservation Trust has launched its 2013 photo contest, with a May 15 deadline. For information, see www.rrct.org/photocontest.html . The group is also working on its next newsletter, with articles emphasizing landscape history in a land conservation context, new federal tax incentives for donations of conservation easements, spring paddling maps and guides of the Royal River, and profiles of local conservation leaders.
