BRUNSWICK — Anne Brooks Haskell Donovan, 76, of Topsham passed away March 20, 2013 of a sudden illness. She was born in Augusta, Maine April 9, 1936, the daughter of Rosalynde Eleanor Pierce and Ray Calvin Haskell.

Anne graduated from Gardiner High School in 1954 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Gates Business College in Augusta. In January 1957 married Norman E. Donovan at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, in Gardiner.

Anne worked for the State of Maine in Augusta and Bath from 1954 to 1962, as a payroll clerk and a claims taker. From 1971 to 1973 she worked for Giant Corp; then at the Naval Air Station, Brunswick in Civilian Personnel as a Human Resource Specialist from 1974 until her retirement in 1995.

Anne reached out and served in her community. Anne worked for several years with other parents to establish the Youth Development Center for Mentally Challenged Children in Brunswick, Maine. Her heart was to help others that could not help themselves.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Norman, who passed away in March 2011 and son, Mathew, who passed away in October 1990.

Survivors are children Gratton H. Donovan II (Hank) of Bowdoin, Patrick Donovan of Topsham, Jeffrey and his wife Renee Donovan of Brunswick, and daughter Kelley S. Donovan, of Boston and New York City. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Anne was the anchor of this family, and supported her children and grandchildren with love and encouragement. Anne loved to reflect on her life and did so with humorous and detailed stories. She loved to laugh, and was extremely positive and uplifting to all that knew her. Anne was very respectful of others, and often put their needs ahead her own. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
