PHIPPSBURG — John O. LeMont, known to all his family and friends as “Neil,” died Friday, March 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Bath on August 28, 1943 the son of Helen M. and Worrall C LeMont. He attended Bath schools and joined the Army in 1961. He was always very proud of his military service.

He loved deer and moose hunting, riding his four-wheeler, raising his farm animals, cutting wood and digging clams. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends.

On September 9, 1973 he married Joyce Ricker and they made their home in Phippsburg.

Survivors include two sons, Paul LeMont of Brunswick and Theodore Lemont of Phippsburg; a step-son, Cecil Kane Jr. and his wife Pam of Phippsburg; and a beloved daughter in-law Cynthia LeMont.

John was predeceased by his son Richard LeMont of Phippsburg; two brothers, Worrall “Sunny” LeMont and Theodore LeMont of Bath; one sister Virginia Watson of Phippsburg.

He is survived by five sisters, Mary Libby of Phippsburg, Joanne Brewer, Nancy Pederson, Helen “Honey” Fredrick and her husband Lee, Adele “Sugar” Madore all of Bath; five grandchildren, Michael LeMont and Ashley Kane of Bath, Amber Kane and Brianna LeMont of Brunswick, Justin Collander of Phippsburg; one great grandson, Noah Moody of Bath; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 6pm on Wednesday March 27 at David E Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, March 28 at the funeral home as well. Pastor Dan Coffin will be officiating. Burial will take place at Morningside Cemetery later in the spring.
