BRUNSWICK — Elizabeth (Betty) F. Storer, 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Born in Rockland, Maine to Arthur B. Farris and Mary E. Campbell Farris.

She grew up in Union, Maine and attended Union High School, the University of Maine and graduated from Bliss College, Lewiston, Maine. During WWII she was employed by the Area Rent Office in Bath; the Brunswick Naval Air Station and later worked at the Bath Iron Works. In 1968 she was a secretary at Webster Junior High School in Auburn; then as a secretary for the United Methodist Church in Brunswick.

She married Harold E. Purinton in 1950. Harold was a WWII veteran, recalled by the navy for the Korean War and stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines. She and two daughters joined him there where she taught in the high school for the navy. They returned to the states and resided in Auburn. Harold died of ALS in 1968.

In June, 1969 she married Howard H. Storer and moved to Brunswick. They later built a home in Arrowsic. Their final home was the Westrun House in Topsham, where they enjoyed many friendships. Betty and Howard traveled extensively and visited all 50 U.S. States at least once. She enjoyed annual “girls weekend” with her daughters.

She is survived by her five daughters and their husbands — Dawn E. and Guy Thibodeau of Levant, Gail P. and James White of Orono, Kelsey E. Purinton and Bear Brewer of Lisbon, Mary E. and Randy Bennett of Abbot, Stacey E. and John Mathieu of Bath; a step daughter and her husband, Penelope J. Cary and Hosea Carpenter of Saco and a daughter in law, Jume Storer of Brunswick; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Services will be private. She was an active member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church. If one chooses, memorial gifts may be made to the Brunswick United Methodist Church Library Fund, 320 Church Road, Brunswick, ME 04011.
