TAMPA, Fla. — James Donald Burgess, 65, of Tampa, FL passed away on April 7, 2013 with his beloved wife by his side. He was the only child of James Wilford and Audrey (Lamb) Burgess.

Don is survived by his wife, April (Ashland) Burgess and their children, Danae and Loren Rice, and Samuel Burgess, and his children, Donna and Timothy Gibson, Bethany and Steven Burrill, James Burgess Jr., and their mother Carole Banks, as well as eight grandchildren Abigail, Andrew, Liam, Evelyn, Tobias, Caleb, Jocelyn, and Gwyneth.

Don was an OB/GYN physician and retired from the OB Hospitalist Group in January of this year. Previously he worked with the University of South Florida College of Medicine and Women’s Health Care at Tampa General Hospital. Before moving to Florida, he delivered over 4,000 babies at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Brunswick, Maine. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa who took delight in his family and pride in his work bringing new lives into the world. He was a lifelong follower of Jesus and a member of Covenant Life Church.

A memorial service will be held in Tampa, FL at First Baptist Church, 302 W Kennedy Blvd., on Friday, April 12, at 3 pm followed by a reception. A graveside service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade, Maine on Sunday, April 14 at noon, followed by a reception at the Village Inn, Belgrade Lakes.
